Why...

...when I've got so much writing to do (and a whole day off to do it) did I decide it would be a good idea to paint my flat instead?

It's called procrastination (and now there's paint everywhere)

Must write something tonight...

It's also called a diversion technique! But at least you have a nice new paint smell!

I think we all have big plans and ambitions then it comes as a bit of a shock when we realise we have to actually write something in order to achieve them!

Just popped over to say I've managed to put a photo up on my profile. Thanks for the offer of help you gave months ago, but for some reason the whole process is now completely easy and pain free!

We all do it, Cally. I was going to write today but ended up sourcing comps for my competition calendar.

Nothing like a fresh coat of paint to start the year. You'll write even more now:-)

I've been meaning to paint one of my walls that got stained with red wine at a party - maybe I'll get round to it when I start writing again?!

Helenmh - it does smell nice :o)

Helen - I think its the fear! You know, knowing you have to write 100,000 words and starting with a blank screen!

Sally - good to know I'm not the only one.

Lane - quite right. It's the new year equivalent of tidying my desk :o)

Yvonne - sounds like some party! A few years ago (quite a few years ago actually, when I was living in a shared house with friends) we told everyone that red wine was banned from our party (we were scared of losing our deposit if any red wine accidents occurred!)
